Helping you learn more about concrete restoration
and
concrete repair.
A process called slab-jacking is a method of concrete repair for when a
slab sinks into poorly packed soil, or eroded soil, or some such. Very
often, even the best-poured slab will sink into the earth a little, and
it’s rarely any problem, but when it sinks so that there is a noticeable
difference in its level, something should be done. Someone who performs
this service, a “slab-jacker” can save you the money of having to
replace the slab. How do they do this? Well, it’s really not all that
complicated.
With very little disruption to any landscaping, they pump what amounts
to complex sand (it also has gravel and cement as well as just sand)
below the sinking slab and it rises in a matter of a few hours back up
to the surface, where it is supposed to be, and probably will not sink
any further, as the mixture below it is dense and sturdy. The kind of
pump used is powerful enough to lift thousands of pounds, so even moving
things off the slab is unnecessary.
Much faster, and much easier then tearing it up and relaying a new slab,
don’t you think?
